From the early days, van Woudenberg used to be a company that was dedicated with cultivating fruit. Bert en Gerry van Woudenberg move end 60s from Harmelen to Zevenhuizen, the middle of nowhere in those days.
They managed a fruit cultivation company which they continued in Zevenhuizen. A huge fire in 1985 cause a sudden change to garden plants and scaling up, as they didn’t want to join the trend of scaling up in fruit cultivation. From 1990, van Woudenberg gradually switched to garden plants.
They were outsiders in the field of garden plants and traders in ‘the Boskoop area’ already had their business relations. It wasn’t an easy job to intervene in this.
